About Us

Stirring Dragon Games is an independent game studio based in the Inland Pacific Northwest, founded by the husband and wife team of Bruce and Laura Gottlieb. Our vision is to create unique games that awaken your imagination and invite you to become co-creators in the adventure.

Humans by nature are creatures that thrive on playful discovery of not only themselves, but their environments as well. In a world full of stress and struggles, games are powerful vehicles for people to unwind and express their playful side in safe, fun, and fulfilling ways.

We started Stirring Dragon Games to serve the needs of a large group of overlooked gamers. Our players prefer their games to work alongside their imagination, not in place of it. We don’t focus on pushing the technology envelope—we focus on pushing the imagination envelope. We’re creating unique gaming experiences you won’t find anywhere else.

We have the singular distinction of being the first people to successfully Kickstart an authentic 8-bit role playing game. Our crowdfunding campaigns for Unknown Realm raised over $130k and our old-school approach to game design earned the support of game industry legends, including Brian Fargo (InXile Entertainment/Bard’s Tale), Richard Garriott (aka Lord British, the creator of the Ultima series), Tyler Sigman (Darkest Dungeon), and Obsidian Entertainment (Pillars of Eternity). Despite having a longer than expected development cycle, Unknown Realm continues to be one of the most anticipated and talked about indie games for fans of the classical RPG genre, and we can’t wait for them to experience the game for the first time.

Bruce is a software engineer and veteran game developer who’s worked with studios such as EA, Konami, Radical Entertainment, and Rocket Science Games as well as various technology startups. Bruce has always had a passion for game design and enjoys creating family-friendly games that respect a player’s time, intelligence, and imagination.

Laura is a co-designer and creative director for all our games. She also handles marketing, biz dev, and community outreach. Laura has a passion for creating experiences that are fun and meaningful and helping people reconnect with their innate love of play.
